Attorney Profile

Daniel A. (Dan) Bushell

Portrait of author Dan Bushell Dan Bushell is an appellate lawyer who forged his skills litigating highly complex cases against the world’s largest law firms, with millions and sometimes hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. From early on in his career, he briefed and argued complicated and cutting-edge issues.  That formative experience allows him to thrive when facing formidable opposition in tough cases.

After receiving his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Dan spent eight years practicing with prominent law firms with national practices.  He  launched Bushell Appellate Law, P.A. in 2011 to bring his passion and skills as an appellate attorney to the broader community of Florida litigants, whether they need assistance with criminal or civil appeals, in Florida State or Federal appellate courts.

Dan’s love for writing and his analytical, inquisitive mind pulled him to an appellate practice, where those qualities and his passion are critical to successful appeals. He soon developed his niche as a go-to lawyer for appellate and complex briefing work. His own firms, other attorneys, and their clients came to rely on Dan to handle their most challenging and important cases.

Dan’s work has resulted in numerous precedent-setting decisions—from the Florida District Courts of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and many other courts throughout the country. His articles have been published in various legal journals, and he presents at continuing legal education programs.

Dan is also the author and publisher of the Florida Appellate Review blog. Cognizant that the law is ever-evolving, Dan keeps a close eye on Florida appellate courts’ newly released opinions. In his posts, Dan offers insight and analysis on important new appellate decisions, trends, and implications for litigants, the courts, and society.

A native of New Jersey, Dan lived and practiced law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania prior to relocating to South Florida in 2007.  He lives in Coral Springs, Florida with his wife and three daughters, and spends his free time fishing, playing golf, and rooting for Michigan sports, the Steelers and the Penguins.
